Pacific Children
need Pacific food.

In Kiribati, babies are growing up healthy thanks to our local health and nutrition programmes. By arming families with the tools and knowledge to grow and prepare traditional crops, we’re turning the tide against decades of imported, ultra-processed foods that have created terrible health issues. Eating more nutritious, local foods, means the next generation can grow up not just healthier, but more independent and resilient.,

Giving babies a fighting chance.

24 year-old Tearia from Betio, Kiribati, was worried and scared when she became a new mother. Without much support from family and friends, she was unsure of how to care for her new baby. But that soon changed when she joined ChildFund’s Start Strong, Stay Strong programme. Her Community Nutrition Leader volunteer quickly showed her how to prepare balanced meals for her daughter. She was taught how to use ingredients like potato, milk, and pumpkin leaves and how to add micro-nutrient powder to improve nutrition and prevent deficiencies. Tearia is now confident young mum and encouraging other mothers to join the programme.

How your donations can help

ImageImage

Meals in schools

Kids don’t learn as well when they’re hungry. By supporting ChildFund’s local programmes, you can ensure Pacific children have enough food in their tummies when at school.

Looking after Mums

When Mums have better health support and they are taught about nutrition, their children tend to be a lot healthier in the long term, too.

Seeds and livestock

Want to gift a goat or a dairy cow? Perhaps a chicken or vegetable seeds? Many people love the idea of gifting something tangible. Giving a family the means to grow their own food is a big step towards healthier futures.

Cooking healthier meals

Poverty often means going without. Going without healthy ingredients or even meals. Your donations help us teach families how to grow healthy veggies and cook more nourishing meals for their children.

Nets for mozzies

Malaria and dengue fever are serious threats in Zambia especially for young children and mothers. By donating today, you are helping us to distribute nets to keep those nasty disease-carrying mozzies away at night.

Health checks

We’re lucky in New Zealand. Our kids get regular free check-ups. But in remote communities it’s often hard getting to a doctor, and many poor can’t afford one. With your help we can ensure kids see a doctor or nurse regularly and get the treatment they need to stay healthy.
