Sadly thousands of children in the Pacific and beyond don’t complete secondary school. For many, this means they are at risk of a life of poverty. That’s why child education is such a priority for ChildFund and is one of the greatest gifts you can give.

future.
After being bounced around from one school to another because of her mother’s work, Tiantaake from South Tarawa in Kiribati, found herself slipping behind in class. Confused and distracted, she ended up leaving school at just 13 years old. Four years later she feared she’d never learn.
But then she discovered ChildFund’s programmes where she could learn at her pace and succeed in subjects that once scared her. Our Youth Bridging Course taught her Numeracy, English and Literacy skills and today, she’s confidently continuing her education at the Kiribati Institute of Technology.

Equipping the schools
In poor countries, kids don’t have flash iPads. They are lucky to have the basics like pens, books, or even uniforms. Your donations provide ChildFund-supported students with essential learning materials, and schools to be equipped with desks and chairs.
Improving the classrooms
When your school only has a classroom or two, overcrowding makes learning harder.
Your donations help us renovate or build new classrooms so more children can attend, and teacher/pupil ratios can improve.
Welcoming students back
In many parts of the world, children are forced to leave school because they live in a conflict zone or because they need to work to support their families. Your donations help us find opportunities for students to safely return to class and continue their learning.
Teaching online safety
Children of the Pacific are just as at risk from dangers of the internet as children in New Zealand, or elsewhere. ChildFund supports education programmes that enhance online and digital safety – helping to create safer browsing, learning and play online.
Delivering quality education
Being a teacher is rewarding. But it also has its challenges – especially in poor and remote communities where resources are limited. Your donations help us improve teachers' ability to do the best job they can by improving classrooms, equipment and training.
Job skills training
Jobs help families break out of poverty. But in many communities, employment opportunities are few, and work skills are hard to come by. Your donations give us the ability to offer work training for youth and caregivers.
