Our work in
Community Road Maps
Along with our partners, ChildFund Kenya and the Emali Child Development Agency, we have developed an action plan to bring Emali to a state of self-reliance. We call this our Road Map.
We are helping create big change for children and families in Emali.
By 2026, children and families in Emali will be living in a community where children and youth have their basic needs met and are protected from all forms of harm and abuse. Until then, we need your help to implement our life-changing programmes and projects for children in Emali, Kenya.
ChildFund New Zealand works in the rural setting of Emali, home to two tribes – the Maasai and the Kamba. Equally as strong in their individual cultural and social norms, ChildFund supports both communities to meet their different aspirations.
There are roughly 3,500 New Zealanders who support our work in Kenya every month.
Sponsor a child
As a child sponsor, you'll help a child access clean water and sanitation facilities, quality education and create a safe place for them to grow up.
You'll watch as your sponsored child grows up healthy, happy and able to achieve their dreams.
Families in Emali earn an income through livestock and crop farming. With climate change, this is becoming more difficult.
Donors are helping families find alternate sources of income.
Water and Sanitation
Water in Emali presents many challenges. Rivers exist, but are seasonal, and ground water is available but is not drinkable.
Our supporters are providing safe water and sanitation facilities for families in Emali, Kenya.
Overcrowded classrooms, high drop-out rates and low literacy have all hindered progress for children and youth.
Help us improve access to a quality education in Emali, Kenya.
