The world is facing an unprecedented number of humanitarian emergencies resulting from natural disasters and war. Innocent and vulnerable people including children have been killed or injured and huge populations have been displaced as homes have been destroyed. In the most affected areas, access to the most basic human needs (food, safe water, shelter, medical supplies) is dwindling or exhausted.
Your support is urgently needed to help deliver life-saving humanitarian assistance to children and families.
ChildFund NZ works with local humanitarian aid partners already on the ground to provide access to safe shelter, WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) facilities, emergency and health related aid, education and psychosocial support while assessing long-term needs of impacted regions.

Innocent children are victims of the conflict in Gaza. There are no safe places for children to shelter as schools, churches and even hospitals are bombed as the conflict escalates. With a full electricity blackout, essential health and sanitation services are collapsing resulting in the high risk of an outbreak of deadly infectious diseases.

Since 7th October, four earthquakes and multiple aftershocks have hit the Herat Province killing predominantly women and children and displacing many more. Prior to the earthquakes, Afghanistan was already facing a humanitarian crisis affecting 28.3 million people. And now with many homes being destroyed families are in desperate need of emergency shelter ahead of winter.

56,000 homes have collapsed or are inhabitable as a result of the 6.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Morocco on 8 September leaving thousands of families without shelter as temperatures in the Atlas Mountains drop with winter approaching. With many schools damaged providing access to education is a priority to regain some sense of normality for the many children impacted by the devastating earthquake.

The devasting impacts of the floods in Libya are being acutely felt by children. Severe drinking water shortages and contamination has already resulted in 55 children being poisoned by drinking polluted water. Sewage and sanitation facilities have been destroyed increasing the risk of a viral disease outbreak, nearly 300,000 children now face diarrhea and cholera, dehydration and malnutrition.
