JUN 7, 2022. MEET THE TEAM

Meet Aleisha Westerdaal-Hadwin, Programme Manager

Aleisha

Meet Aleisha, a Programme Manager at ChildFund. We ask Aleisha why working towards ChildFund's purpose of helping children and young people to thrive is important to her.

ChildFund (CF): Why do you want to help children and young people

Aleisha (AW): I am passionate about the rights of children, young people and their families, ensuring that they are able to access and exercise these fundamental rights. Children flourish and thrive when their rights are realised and protected. I want to be a part of creating space for children and young people to be heard and to be active participants in changes in their communities and environment.

CF: Briefly, tell us about your skills and experience, what you are bringing to ChildFund and to the children we serve?

AW: Over the last decade I have worked in a number of different roles with World Vision NZ, UNICEF UK and Plan International UK. Managing programmes in many different countries and contexts, mainly with a focus on youth development. I have also spent time working at Oranga Tamariki managing government services and contracts with community providers.

CF: What does work at ChildFund bring to you?

AW: I love that I get to be part of an organisation that is helping children thrive all around the world. Knowing that what I do everyday can be a part of making positive change is really meaningful for me.

CF: What are your hobbies?

AW: I love adventures with my family, being at the beach in the sun and swimming. Spending time outdoors, going on bush walks and enjoying the view from the top of a mountain. I also love travel and experiencing different cultures, through food and learning about languages and histories.
