What are the Sustainable Development Goals?
In September 2015, the 193 countries of The United Nations launched The Global Goals of Sustainable Development, a commitment to achieve three extraordinary things by 2030: end extreme poverty, fight inequality and injustice and fix climate change.
To do this, they created the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Learn more about the SDGs below!
Did you know? ChildFund played a role in the creation of the Global Goals.
As part of the creation of the Sustainable Development Goals, civil society organisations, like ChildFund, were invited to help create goals and set targets. Because of ChildFund's advocacy work around Ending Violence Against Children, a new goal was included in the SDGs.
Goal 16.2: End abuse, exploitation, trafficking and all forms of violence and torture against children
We're all in this together!
In April 2015, Margreet De Heer was asked by the organisation Reading with Pictures to join their initiative Comics Uniting Nations, which aims to spread the word about the 17 SDGs in the form of comics. This is a great medium to help young people learn more about the Global Goals.
Everyone is invited to use these comics and spread them around, especially teachers.
