Dance has become an important part of our work in Kiribati.
A key outcome of our work is to improve knowledge and awareness of those living in Kiribati. One of the ways we can communicate information to a large group of people is by bringing everyone together for a performance or event.
ChildFund Kiribati has been sharing information with family members in South Tarawa through dance performances and competitions for several years.
We need your help to raise $5,000 AUD. Your support today will help us implement even more dance performances and competitions in South Tarawa, which help in many ways.
Youth participation and leadership.
We’ve found dance to be a great way for young people to get involved in something positive. Through participating in dance classes and performances, it also builds teamwork, leadership skills, time management and other skills to help youth in the future.
Provides a platform for sharing information.
When we set up a dance show, many people come to watch. This is a great opportunity for us to share important messages about health, hygiene, nutrition, water and sanitation, child protection and more. And, because dance shows are fun to attend, people hear the same messages repeatedly over time.
Positive spaces for children and parents.
Attending dance shows is a wonderful way for parents to spend quality time with their children. Through the experience, they also will learn ways to improve their parenting so children can grow up safe, healthy and optimistic for the future.
