Young people feel useless, but all they need is a new pathway.
All around the world, young people are living life without purpose. Without the basics of reading, writing and maths, young people can't find work, which leaves them feeling lost.
For Taianui, a young man in Kiribati, life hasn't been easy.
When Taianui was only young, his father passed away, leaving his mum alone to support the family. When she became too ill to work, Taianui dropped out of school to help. Without the basic skills to get a decent job, Taianui began selling homemade alcohol, which is illegal.
He knew he was going down the wrong path, but felt hopeless and unable to do anything about it...
It's not too late...
Through ChildFund's Building Blocks programme, young people gain confidence as they learn foundational skills in reading, writing and maths— the tools
they need for a brighter future.
